Final Validation Workshop – Smart Sustainable and Resilient City Bishkek

Main Objectives:
- Launch a publication of the UNECE smart sustainable cities profile Bishkek and discuss implementation of its recommendations with the City Government of Bishkek, international partner organizations and relevant stakeholders;
- Present and validate the Economic Recovery and Rebuilding Plan for the city of Bishkek developed as part of the UNECE project “Building Urban Economic Resilience during and after COVID-19”;
- Introduce the online e-learning course developed within the same project;
- Inform on the progress of the development of a joint project with the CDIA on the improvement of informal settlements in Bishkek.
Description: This workshop in Bishkek is organized by the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in cooperation with the City Government of Bishkek and with participation of representatives of national and local governments, UN agencies and other international organizations working on urban issues in Kyrgyzstan. The workshop will launch a publication of the UNECE Smart Sustainable Cities Profile Bishkek elaborated using indicators of smart sustainable cities and will report on outcomes of the cooperation between UNECE, the City of Bishkek and other partners on the following two joint projects supported by the UN Development Account, Building Urban Economic Resilience during and after COVID-19 and Smart Sustainable Cities for the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development and the New Urban Agenda in the UNECE Region.
