Bishkek: Towards Sustainable Smart City and COVID-19 Recovery

Main Objectives: (i) To further explore social and economic changes in Bishkek, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, and key objectives of the city for 2021; (ii) To present the Urban Economic Resilience Performance Diagnostic and Planning Tool, which will be used to assess Bishkek’s economic resilience and to provide practical recommendations on strengthening it.
Description: The validation workshop in Bishkek was organized by UNECE with participation of the City Government of Bishkek, UN-Habitat and the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in the Kyrgyz Republic. It presents the intermediate outcomes of cooperation between UNECE and the city on these three Projects: • Smart Sustainable Cities for the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development and the New Urban Agenda in the UNECE Region • Post COVID-19 Recovery in Informal Settlements in the ECE Region • Building Urban Economic Resilience during and after COVID-19.
