Bishkek: Towards Sustainable Smart City and COVID-19 Recovery
(i) To further explore social and economic changes in Bishkek, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, and key objectives of the city for 2021;
(ii) To present the Urban Economic Resilience Performance Diagnostic and Planning Tool, which will be used to assess Bishkek’s economic resilience and to provide practical recommendations on strengthening it.
The validation workshop in Bishkek was organized by UNECE with participation of the City Government of Bishkek, UN-Habitat and the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in the Kyrgyz Republic. It presents the intermediate outcomes of cooperation between UNECE and the city on these three Projects:
• Smart Sustainable Cities for the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development and the New Urban Agenda in the UNECE Region
• Post COVID-19 Recovery in Informal Settlements in the ECE Region
• Building Urban Economic Resilience during and after COVID-19
